My research is based at the UCL Institute of Child Health in London.
Diabetes; My main research expertise is in the field of diabetes epidemiology and physiology. I am interested in developing new biomarkers and predictive tools to detect future diabetes related complications. I am interested in hormonal changes and measuring the decline the beta cell mass prior to the clinical development of type 1 diabetes. I am establishing studies investigating the mechanisms for poorer outcomes in ethnic minority groups with diabetes and the use of new technologies and novel methods of service delivery in type 1 diabetes.
General endocrinology; I am also investigating long-term outcomes for common congenital endocrine diseases, such as Turner Syndrome and congenital hypothyroidism.
I have published more than 40 peer reviewed papers, including publications in a number of high impact journals such as the BMJ, Diabetes, Diabetes Care and JCEM, as well as guidance documents.
